Getting to Leiden

Leiden is easy to reach thanks to its well-connected central station, just 15 minutes from Schiphol Airport. Trains run frequently, with direct routes taking about 30 minutes to Amsterdam and Rotterdam, and around an hour to Utrecht. When you exist the station, you'll find yourself right in the city center.

Coming by car? Both the A4 and A44 motorways pass by Leiden. It's best to park outside the city center and walk or take public transport in.

Feel like exploring the area? Towns like Katwijk, Noordwijk and the famous Keukenhof flower garden are easily reached by bus, departing from the Central station.

Getting around in Leiden

Getting around in Leiden is easy and enjoyable on foot - the historic center is compact and mostly car-free. For a local touch, rent a bike and explore the city like a true Dutchie. 

Buses are available for longer distances, but most sights, shops, and cafes are within walking or cycling distance. Pro tip: park your car at the Haagweg parking, rent a bike at Easyfiets and you're good to go.
